Philip Scotti grew up in the food business as one of 46 grandchildren in the Genuardi Family Markets, a Philadelphia based 76-store chain.
In 1975 he moved to New York and entered the restaurant industry as a manager trainee with The Fireman Hospitality Group.
Mentored by owner/restaurateur Shelly Fireman he opened his first restaurant, The Saloon, in 1980. An American version of Paris's La Coupole, The Saloon became a mainstay at Lincoln Center for 23 years.
In addition to The Saloon, Scotti has owned and managed The Century Café in Times Square, Boulevard on Manhattan's upper Westside and the Rose CafeŽ in Greenwich Village. His current portfolio includes Sarabeth's Kitchen on Amsterdam Avenue, on Madison Avenue, Docks Oyster Bar and Seafood Grill, Dock's on Broadway, and New York's quintessential saloon, P.J. Clarke's.
With the restoration of P.J. Clarke's in Midtown Manhattan and re-establishment of the brand, Scotti has just begun construction of a second Clarke's at Four World Financial Center, opening Summer 2005.
Scotti is a resident of Manhattan.
