Working as a successful chef, restaurateur and author, Jonathan Waxman has graced such prestigious kitchens as Chez Panisse in Berkeley and Michael's in Los Angeles. Waxman went on to open his own restaurant in New York City — Jams, described by the NY Times as 'a culinary comet', as well as the famed Washington Park. Today, Jonathan is chef and owner of Barbuto in Manhattan's West Village and Jams in 1 Hotel Central Park as well as owning other renowned restaurants across the country.
Jonathan Waxman is the 2016 James Beard Award winner for “Best Chef, New York City”. He was a judge on Bravo’s Recipe for Deception and has appeared on two seasons of Top Chef Masters where he earned the nickname 'Obi Wan Kenobi'. He is the author of cookbooks, A Great American Cook and Italian, My Way. Jonathan currently lives in Manhattan with his wife and three children.
Barbuto continues to be a favorite for both locals and visitors, who enjoy the restaurant's casual sophistication and neighborhood feel. The restaurant occupies an airy garage space on the ground floor of Industria Superstudios on Washington Street, between Jane and West 12th Streets. With garage doors that can be opened and closed, guests can enjoy a sidewalk table in the warm months. The simple décor and open kitchen add to the restaurant's warm and inviting feel.
Street parking is available nearby, and there is also a parking facility on Jane St. closer to the West Side Highway.
Experience Barbuto from within the Semi Private Dining Room or the Chef’s Table. Barbuto’s intimate and cozy semi-private dining room's atmosphere is perfect for any occasion, whether it's a business function or a celebration with family and friends. The Chef's Table is a rustic open space located in our open kitchen where guests can experience the artistry and energy of the Chef and kitchen in full swing. The Chef's Table can accommodate up to 14 guests for a seated family style dinners while the Semi Private Dining Room seats 10. Both spaces are booked on a first come first served basis with each requiring a room feet to secure the space. At both the Semi Private Dining Room and Chef's Table, guests are served a selection of three to four courses family style, representing the menu's best seasonal dishes.

The 2017 Austin Food + Wine Festival is a three-day weekend event packed with top chef talent, sommeliers and winemakers from across the nation. From April 28-30, Austin will be showcasing over 50 of the finest beverages and 40 outstanding food artisans from the southern city and beyond. Wellness in the Schools Gala

Wellness in the Schools is a national non-profit that inspires heathy eating, environmental awareness, and fitness as a way of life for kids in public schools. The organization works with schools to provide healthy meals and fitness and nutrition education to shift the entire culture of schools. Their purpose is to shape the wellness behavior of children in school between kindergarten and high school, as over one-third of children under the age of 18 in the United States are overweight or obese. On Monday, April 24, Wellness in the Schools will be hosting their Annual Gala to celebrate their work at the Tribeca Rooftop, featuring top chefs and restaurants in NYC.
